Control4 X4 Readiness Check
Control4 X4 / Readiness check
Control4 X4 is here.
Find out if your system can run it.
Not every Control4 system supports X4 — it depends on the controller in your rack. We'll check remotely in about fifteen minutes and give you a straight answer either way. No cost, no obligation.

Don't know your model numbers? Neither do most people. Choose "I don't know" and we'll identify everything from your system.
We check remotely
Fifteen minutes, no site visit. We identify your controller, interfaces, lighting hardware and drivers.
We tell you your tier
Ready to upgrade, upgradeable with a caveat, or time to talk about hardware. In plain language.
We quote only if there's work
If nothing needs doing, we'll say so. If it does, you get a scoped price — not a guess.
If you'd rather check yourself first, find the Control4 controller — usually in a comms cupboard, an AV rack, or under the TV — and read the label on the front.
You're ready.
Full X4 support and every update that follows. Usually a software upgrade — often no site visit needed.
Supported, with one caveat.
X4 runs. You lose the OS 3 look, and on-screen control through the TV changes at X4.1. Worth planning a controller refresh over the next year or two.
They keep working — but they stop here.
T3 screens run X4.0 and remain fully functional. They won't receive X4.1 or anything after it. The replacement is a T4 or Halo Touch.
Time for a conversation.
These controllers predate X4 and won't run it. Nothing is being switched off — but it's a phone call rather than a form. Our number is at the bottom of this page.

The straight version
Control4 Connect is an optional subscription, billed directly to you by Control4 through the Control4 app — not by us. It replaces the older 4Sight service and does considerably more. X4 works without it; you keep full control inside the house either way.
Does the readiness check cost anything?
No. It's remote, takes about fifteen minutes, and you get a straight answer whether or not there's work in it for us.
What does the X4 upgrade itself cost?
The X4 software is part of the platform. What you pay for is the work — the audit, the upgrade, and rebuilding your home screen and scenes afterwards. On supported hardware it's often a short job. On older systems it can involve hardware replacement. We quote after the check, when the scope is known, rather than guessing beforehand.
Is Control4 Connect required?
No. X4 works without it. Connect adds remote access, notifications, self-service routines and the Apple integrations. It's optional, and billed directly to you by Control4 through the app.
What does Connect cost?
Pricing is set by Control4 and billed through the app. We'll confirm the current Australian pricing with you as part of the readiness check rather than quote a number that may have changed.
I already have 4Sight. What happens to it?
Connect replaces 4Sight and includes considerably more. The exact migration path depends on your system and when you upgrade — we'll walk you through what changes, in writing, before any work happens. Nobody should find out about a billing change through an app prompt.
Will my T3 touch screens stop working?
No. They run X4.0 and remain fully functional. They won't receive X4.1 or later releases. It isn't urgent, but it's worth factoring into any planning over the next couple of years.
Will I lose my scenes and settings?
Your programming carries across. The interface is different enough that the home screen is worth rebuilding rather than replicating — that's part of the upgrade work, and it's usually where people realise how much of their old layout they never used.
Can I do the upgrade myself?
No. Control4 systems are dealer-programmed, and the upgrade involves a driver and integration audit as well as the software.
We didn't buy our system from you. Can you still help?
Yes. We regularly take over Control4 systems installed by other dealers. The readiness check is the starting point either way.
We're outside Sydney.
The check is remote, so we can tell you where you stand regardless of location. Physical work depends on where you are — if we can't service your area we'll say so and point you to the nearest certified dealer.
